winter 2021- will we have a class?
In-Season Skills + Conditioning Class– HAS BEEN SUSPENDED. UNABLE TO RUN CLASS.
THE RISE OF COVID HAS CAUSED US TO SUSPEND 3 ON 3 LEAGUE, SPRING 2021
Information below is what WOULD be, if only we were safe and secure to run our league. But, until further notice, we are NOT operating any classes at this time, and maybe until June 1, 2021
Our 3-on-3 League at MDPC is a “round-robin-style,” half-court basketball league. We have three divisions: 3rd Grade ONLY; 4th-5th graders; and 6th-8th graders. All Divisions are Co-Ed.
**This league is not for beginners. Players are required to know the basics of the game and can play comprehensive basketball.
All kids register online individually. If you know your “teammate requests,” simply indicate on the REGISTRATION FORM (per your respective division). Teams can have a total of up to 4 players. Referees coach-ref each night (they instruct while refereeing). Kids are guaranteed a minimum of 6 half-court games nightly. No coaches are provided. Kids name their own team and set their own plays. Games played in one gym, at separate baskets. Championship Day (Round Robbin, according to rank) is the last night of class for all Divisions. Medals are awarded to Gold, Silver and Bronze champions.
Our Next “Get Ready “Coach/Player Clinics are normally-scheduled in November or December, just before Basketball Season. We are not able to put on any Player Clinics due to COVID-19. The one Coach Clinic we will put on will be for Kingdom Basketball Coaches.
Coaches’ clinics are for parent/volunteer coaches who want to receive strategies to properly and effectively coach their youth basketball teams. Volunteer Coaches come and receive instruction how to successfully-approach their basketball season, whether they have coached before or not. Coaches receive a handout, complete with a “tool box” of drills and appropriate goals and methods to coach their respective age groups, from Kinder-9th Grade kids. Coach Heidi (35 years experience) does all instruction live (in-person); and she gives helpful websites where coaches can harvest plays, drills, defensive sets and other extremely useful information.
Player Clinics are for beginner or intermediate skill-level players to “Get Ready” for the season. Players work on correct forms of shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, defense and “live game situations.” This is a great way to transition from fall sports into basketball season! **Unfortunately, no Player “Get Ready” Clinics will be put on this December due to COVID-19.
