Skills Essentials are for ALL LEVELS, beginner, intermediate and advanced, to drill and practice all fundamentals of the game. Because skills work is “essential” to being and becoming a great player, we now offer SKILLS year round. Each 90-minute workout consists of 30 minutes of ball handling and shooting, 30 minutes of individual and/or team skill sets for the “theme of the day” (eg: rebounding, defense, picks and rolls, etc), followed by at least 20 minutes of live game play. Players work together with others of similar skill level in small groups under our certified coaching staff. Our structure and curriculum is proven to help kids understand the game and to play to the best of their ability. See our Testimonials Page for what others say about SKILLS!
Our 3-on-3 League at MDPC is a round robin, half-court basketball league. We have three divisions: 3rd Grade ONLY; 4th-5th graders; and 6th-8th graders. All Divisions are Co-Ed.
All kids register online individually. If you know your “teammate requests,” simply indicate on the REGISTRATION FORM for 3rd-5th or 6th-8th. Teams can have a total of up to 4 players. Referees coach-ref each night. Kids are guaranteed a minimum of 6 half-court games nightly. No coaches provided. Kids name their own team and set their own plays. Games played in one gym, at separate baskets. Championship Day (Round Robbin, according to rank) is the last night of class for all Divisions. Medals are awarded to Gold, Silver and Bronze champions. **This league is for kids who know the basics of the game and can play comprehensive basketball.
Our Next “Get Ready “Coach/Player Clinics will be Nov. & Dec. 2020.
Coaches’ clinics are for parent/volunteer coaches who want to receive strategies to properly and effectively coach their youth basketball teams. Clinics take place in late November or early December, just prior to the start of basketball season. Come and receive instruction how to approach and successfully approach your basketball season, whether you have coached before or not. Coaches receive a handout, complete with a “tool box” of drills and appropriate goals and methods to coach their respective age groups, from Kinder-9th Grade kids. Coach Heidi also gives helpful websites where coaches can harvest plays, drills, defensive sets and other extremely helpful information.
Player Clinics are for beginner or intermediate skill-level players to “get ready” for the season. Players work on correct forms of shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, defense and “game situations” along with team concepts–a great way to transition from fall sports into basketball season!
